What are the alternate aerobic events for a Soldier with a permanent profile, and what do they replace?

They replace the two mile run. The alternate aerobic events are the 5,000 meter row, the 15,000 meter stationary bike, the 1,000 meter swim, and the 2.5 mile walk. A Soldier's profile has to authorize the specific event, and alternate aerobic events are graded go or no go rather than on the point scale.

Standards of Medical Fitness

AR 40-501 sets the medical fitness standards for accession, retention, and separation, and it is the basis for physical profiles. Leaders use it to understand what a profile means and what it does not. Medical providers own the determinations; leaders own the accommodation and the training plan.

Are beards authorized in the Army?

No. Soldiers keep their faces clean shaven when in uniform or in civilian clothes on duty. The exceptions are an approved religious accommodation and a shaving profile issued by a medical provider. Shaving profile policy has been tightened by Army directive since the 2021 edition of AR 670-1, so check the current directive and the Soldier's profile before you correct anyone.
