Army Training and Leader Development
AR 350-1 is the policy behind Army training: mandatory training requirements, institutional training, and leader development programs. The 1 June 2025 major revision superseded the 10 December 2017 edition, folding in years of Army directives and trimming the common mandatory training list. What is the Army physical fitness test of record, and what did it replace?
The Army Fitness Test, abbreviated AFT. It became the test of record on 1 June 2025 and replaced the Army Combat Fitness Test. The change removed the standing power throw and left five events.

How often must Soldiers take a record fitness test?
Active component Soldiers take two record tests per year. Reserve component Soldiers take one record test per year. Commanders may direct diagnostic tests more often, but a diagnostic is not a test of record.
